What does it look like to rest in God’s love?

That’s something I have been learning here in Nicaragua. I’ve had the chance to take time to go back to the “basics” of the Gospel!

Here is one “basic” truth that I’m being reminded of: I am valuable because God created me.

Before we said a word or did a thing, God called us, His creations, “very good”.  (Gen. 1:31)

No amount of performing or striving could ever earn ourselves worth. The right words could never earn ourselves worth. Masking our imperfections could never earn ourselves worth. Putting on a show could never earn ourselves worth.

No good deed will enable God to love us more.“God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8

The world says that we are only as valuable as the amount of bricks we make.

God says that He needs you to remember that your worth isn’t based on what you produce.

God gives me the full ability to shake off this Egyptian mindset that Western culture is so wound up in for the purpose of walking into the fullness of love the Lord has ready to freely give.

My God’s love for me is steadfast and never-changing. His love is unconditional. He loves me just as much when I’m either doing ministry or resting because I’m sick.

His love is a gift, it is not a reward for performance. How beautiful is that?

Will you surrender your striving to rest in His love?

Will you accept His gift?

Freely His love is given, freely we shall receive.

God is asking us to trust that He made a good creation when He made us. He desires our authentic self, and He wants an authentic relationship with you.

He’s never asked for perfection from us.

He knows that we could never be perfect.

He alone is perfect.

Will that be enough?

“It is finished,” He says. Now all we must do is spread the Good News.

Ask God to see yourself the way that He sees you.

Ask God to see Him the way He wants you to see Him.

Then and there will change begin.

No longer is He our master, but our Husband.

As I learn these things, I’m coming to realize that it is a process to get to the point where I feel fully secure in His love for me. It is one thing to know in my head this truth, but for it to sink deep in my heart is a whole different story. But roots are being uprooted and walls are being torn down! Praise God.

What a blessing it is to be a part of a Kingdom in which its foundation is built upon pure Love and Truth.

…& here is some truth from the Word!

“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.” Isaiah 64:8

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are WONDERFUL, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.” Psalm 139:13-15

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in Love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the Love of Christ, and to know this Love that surpasses knowledge— that you may be filled with the measure of all the FULLNESS of God!” Ephesians 3:17-19

“This is Love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10

“There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt. “In that day,” declares the Lord, “you will call me ‘my husband’, you will no longer call me ‘my master.’” Hosea 2:15-16

I love you guys! So thankful for all the support and encouragement I’ve been receiving since being out on the field. Can’t wait to share more stories of how God’s working!

Much love,

Rachel

“No longer is He our master, but our Husband.”

rach, these are such tender & real words. reflecting a real and tender God. i cannot even comprehend the love our Lord has for us, that He would choose us, before we ever chose or considered Him. yet we are His bride. HOW CAN THIS BE?! WE SAY AMEN – this is good news!! we can rest in His love!! and it’s enough:) psalm 90:14 says this, “satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” there’s is no more striving. just abiding. perfectionism is not a fruit of the Spirit!!

He just wants our hearts, and it’s clear you’ve given Him yours.
praising God for you my sweet friend!! – j nikk
