Hi friends!!! I’d like to first apologize for not posting updates from the past month and a half. I’ve finally made time to sit down and summarize what’s been going on! I hope to give consistent updates throughout my time here.

Two weeks ago, after a 3 hour flight to Costa Rica and a 8 hour bus ride to our base, my squad made it to NICARAGUA!!! It’s the first country out of 3 we are ministering to!!! It is the most beautiful and peaceful place I’ve ever been. I am learning so much about Nicaraguan culture, and I’m in love with it. Life is slow and simple. Gratefulness, hospitality and joy overflow in the Nicaraguan peoples hearts, and it’s so contagious!

The place I’m staying (which is called the “base”) is beyond beautiful. Some of my fave things about our living conditions include:

  • We have a majestic view of a volcano
  • An actual bed & all the girls are sharing a room
  • The basketball court
  • The food!! (beans, rice, and plantain chips are a daily staple)
  • The hammock on the porch (my favorite reading spot)

The Lord has been revealing to me the power and significance of prayer. Back home, praying consistently was a struggle of mine and I’d never assigned much importance to it. Here, praying takes up the majority of my day. I wake up at 5 to spend an hour in personal prayer, and at 6 we have prayer together as a squad. One out of many ministries of ours is “prayer walking”. Prayer walking is where we walk through villages and visit people’s homes to share the Gospel, give encouragement and pray for people. During these walks, I’ve been a witness of healings through God’s miraculous power. I’ve also seen transformations of people who were discouraged and depressed to restoration of joy and light back in their eyes by His spirit!!! What an honor.

Now, I view praying as a beautiful gift to be able to have a conversation with the Creator of the universe who listens to and deeply cares for His children. Thank you God for what You are doing and going to do here in Nicaragua!

You could be praying for…

  • renewed energy and perseverance for my squad
  • restored physical health as some of us are getting sick
  • a newfound fire for the Lord

Thank you for reading and catching up on all my adventures!! If you have questions about the ministry here or anything else, please reach out. Have a lovely week!

God bless,

Rach
